afunny thing happened to me last friday. id gone to london to do some shopping. i wanted to get some christmas presents,and i needed to find somebooks for my courseat school (you see, imastudent). i caughtan early train to london soby earlyafternoon idbought everything that i wanted.anyway, im not very fond of london,all the noiseand traffic,and id made somearrangements for that evening. so, i tookatai to waterloo station. i cant reallyafford tais,but i wanted to get the 3:30 train. unfortunately the tai got stuckinatraffic jam,andby the time i got to waterloo, the train had just gone. i had to waitan hour for the net one. iboughtan evening newspaper the standard,and wandered over to the stationbuffet.at that time of day its nearly empty, so iboughtacoffeeandapacket ofbiscuits--chocolatebiscuits. im yew fond of chocolatebiscuits. there were plenty of empty tablesand i found one near the window. i sat downandbegan doing the crossword. enjoy doing crossword puzzles.
afteracouple of minutesaman sat down opposite me. there was nothing specialabout him, ecept that he was very tall. in fact he looked likeatypical citybusinessman--youknow, darksuitandbriefcase. i didnt sayanythingand i carried on with my crossword. suddenly he reachedacross the table, opened my packet ofbiscuits, tookone, dipped it into his coffeeand popped it into his mouth, i couldntbelieve my eyes! i was too shocked to sayany thing.anyway, i didnt want to makeafuss, so i decided to ignore it. ialwaysavoid trouble if i can. i just tookabiscuit myselfand wentbackto my crossword.
when the man tookasecondbiscuit, i didnt lookupand i didnt makeasound. i pretended tobe very interested in the puzzle.afteracouple of minutes, i casually put out my hand, tookthe lastbiscuitand glancedat the man. he was staringat me furiously. i nervously put thebiscuit in my mouth,and decided to leave. i was ready to get upand go when the man suddenly pushedbackhis chair, stood upand hurried out of thebuffet. i felt very re. lievedand decided to wait two or three minutesbefore going myself. i finished my coffee, folded my newspaperand stood up.and there, on the table, where my newspaper hadbeen, was my packet ofbiscuits.
