　　A man, a woman and a child are telling the tree their troubles.

　　一個(gè)男人，一個(gè)女人和一個(gè)孩子向一棵樹(shù)傾訴著自己的煩惱。

　　“How can I do what you say,” asked the child, “and still be me?”

　　“怎樣才能既按你說(shuō)的做，又不會(huì)迷失自己？”孩子問(wèn)。

　　“Look at me,” said the tree. “I bend in the wind, droop in the rain, yet I always remain myself, a tree.”

　　“你看我，”樹(shù)說(shuō)，“我在風(fēng)中折腰，在雨里低垂，到現(xiàn)在我還是我自己，我仍舊是一棵樹(shù)。”

　　The man said. “I can’t change.”

　　男人說(shuō)：“我無(wú)法改變自己�！�

　　“Look at me,” said the tree, “I change every season from green to brown to green again, from bud to flower to fallen leaf. Yet I always remain myself, a tree.”

　　“你看我，”樹(shù)說(shuō)，“每個(gè)季節(jié)，我都會(huì)由青蔥，變得枯黃，再回到青蔥，從發(fā)芽到開(kāi)花再到葉落。到現(xiàn)在，我仍然是我自己，仍舊是一棵樹(shù)。”

　　“I can’t love any more,” said the woman, “With my love, I have given away all that I am.”

　　“我的愛(ài)已耗盡，”女人說(shuō)，“為了愛(ài)，我已傾其所有，完全失去了自我�！�

　　“Look at me,” said the tree. “There are robins in my branches, owls in my trunk, moss and lady bugs living on my bark. They may take what I have, but not what I am.”

　　“你看我，”樹(shù)說(shuō)，“我的樹(shù)枝上有知更鳥(niǎo)，樹(shù)干中有貓頭鷹，苔蘚和瓢蟲(chóng)生長(zhǎng)在我的`樹(shù)皮中。他們可能帶走我所擁有的，但帶不走我自己。”

　　Whether we know it or not, we are like the tree. Only our pride hangs on to a false sense of self, wanting to keep everything, refusing to follow advice or spiritual direction.

　　不管我們知道與否，其實(shí)我們就像這棵樹(shù)。虛榮心是由于對(duì)自我的錯(cuò)誤認(rèn)識(shí)，妄想將任何東西都據(jù)為己有，而拒絕聽(tīng)從別人的意見(jiàn)或者精神的指引。

　　What we do doesn’t matter; how we do it is what counts. Change and growth is as natural as the sun coming up every morning and the setting of it every night. Go with what is inside you and listen to what your heart tells you. Why not even if just for today, reach out once more to a place that exists outside yourself without or from others…just once more.

　　我們做什么并不重要，我們?cè)鯓尤プ霾攀怯袃r(jià)值的。改變與成長(zhǎng)，這對(duì)我們來(lái)說(shuō)就像太陽(yáng)每天都朝升夕落一樣，不足為奇。帶著自己真實(shí)的內(nèi)心前行，傾聽(tīng)心靈深處的忠告。為什么今天就不再去一次那個(gè)存在于自己身外的地方呢？沒(méi)有恐懼，也不用在乎自己和別人的評(píng)價(jià)，哪怕只是一次也好。

　　We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.

　　孩子害怕黑暗，情有可原；人生真正的悲劇，卻是成人害怕光明。
