　　一、當(dāng) convenience 表示抽象意義的“方便”“合宜”時(shí)，它是不可數(shù)名詞。如：

　　What sells CDs to most people is convenience. 多數(shù)人買CD是圖個(gè)方便。

　　The hotelcombines comfort with convenience. 這家旅店既舒適又方便。

　　二、當(dāng) convenience 表示以下具體意思時(shí)，它則是可數(shù)名詞：

　　(1) 表示具體的“便利設(shè)施”“方便用具”等，則可數(shù)。如：

　　They wouldn't like to live without modern conveniences such as microwaves. 他們不愿過那種沒有微波爐之類現(xiàn)代化便利設(shè)施的生活。

　　用于慣用表達(dá) as a convenience (to sb)，意思是“為方便(某人)”，與 for (sb's) convenience 大致同義。又如：

　　we group them intospecies merely as a convenience. 我們將其分類只是為了方便。

　　Thesupermarket offers a bag-packing service,as a convenience to customers. 為方便顧客，這家超市提供袋裝服務(wù)。

　　(2) 表示“方便的事”，也是可數(shù)名詞。如：

　　It's a great convenience living next door toa post office. 住在郵局隔壁極為方便。

　　(3) 表示“(公共)廁所”，是可數(shù)名詞。如：

　　There is a public convenience on the cornerof the street. 在街道的拐角處有公共廁所

　　既可以做可數(shù)名詞也可做不可數(shù)名詞，如：

　　1、a wide/limited vocabulary詞匯量大/有限，就是可數(shù)名詞。

　　2、The word has become part of advertising vocabulary. 這個(gè)單詞已經(jīng)成了廣告用語。就是不可數(shù)名詞。

　　8. This book is intended to enlarge vocabulary.
