Dear Jenny,
I happened to find a very interest fact with the word 'hello' in China. Usually, people having different meanings when they say 'hello'. For example, if a taxi driver says 'hello' to you, they often mean 'welcome' to you. When you are on the street, if a street vendor says 'hello' to you, they are actually asking you if you want to buy anything. The students at school say 'hello' to you, in fact, they are asking if I can practice English with them.
The Chinese people are studying English really hard for the Olympic game which will be held soon in Beijing. I really hope that you and your friends can come and watch the Olympic, and feel the kindnesses from the hellos.
