從北京出發(fā)，不過(guò)一百多里就來(lái)到了長(zhǎng)城腳下。這一段長(zhǎng)城修筑在八達(dá)嶺上，高大堅(jiān)固。長(zhǎng)城就像一位巨人，伸展開(kāi)雙臂，人們好像在這位巨人的手臂上行走一樣。
我站在這位巨人的手臂上看，遠(yuǎn)處的景物一目了然。在遠(yuǎn)處的群山上，樹(shù)木長(zhǎng)得蔥蔥籠籠。原來(lái)這長(zhǎng)城還是個(gè)放大鏡哩!
單看這數(shù)不清的條石，一塊有兩三千斤重。那是沒(méi)有火車(chē)、汽車(chē)，也沒(méi)有起重機(jī)，就靠著無(wú)數(shù)的肩膀無(wú)數(shù)的手，一步一步抬上這陡峭的山嶺。
在此，我想說(shuō)，我們的'先民在極其貧乏的物質(zhì)條件下，以最原始、最簡(jiǎn)單的工具才完成了這前不見(jiàn)頭，后不見(jiàn)尾的萬(wàn)里長(zhǎng)城!
這樣氣魄雄偉的工程，在世界歷史上是一個(gè)偉大的奇跡!
