英語作文 篇1
Every time when I get on the bus, I won't choose to sit down in the first row, because these seats are often offered to the old and sick people. So as a teenager, sometimes I feel guilty to sit down. In the last decades, we had been educated to let the old and sick people to sit down in the bus. It was the tradition to respect the old in China. But from the news, we have witnessed some old people are rude. They thought it was their privilege to have the seat, so when they weren't offered the seat in the bus, they blamed the young people. Actually, it is the young people's choice to decide whether they want to offer the seat or not. The old people should be gratitude and be nice to the one who help them.
Since the dawn of human ingenuity, people have devised ever more cunning tools to cope with work that is dangerous, boring, burdensome, or just plain nasty. That compulsion has resulted in roboticsthe science of conferring various human capabilities on machines. And if scientists have yet to create the mechanical version of science fiction, they have begun to come close.
As a result, the modern world is increasingly populated by intelligent gizmos whose presence we barely notice but whose universal existence has removed much human labor. Our factories hum to the rhythm of robot assembly arms. Our banking is done at automated teller terminals that thank us with mechanical politeness for the transaction. Our subway trains are controlled by tireless robo-drivers. And thanks to the continual miniaturization of electronics and micro-mechanics, there are already robot systems that can perform some kinds of brain and bone surgery with submillimeter accuracyfar greater precision than highly skilled physicians can achieve with their hands alone.
But if robots are to reach the next stage of laborsaving utility, they will have to operate with less human supervision and be able to make at least a few decisions for themselvesgoals that pose a real challenge. While we know how to tell a robot to handle a specific error, says Dave Lavery, manager of a robotics program at NASA, we cant yet give a robot enough common sense to reliably interact with a dynamic world. Indeed the quest for true artificial intelligence has produced very mixed results. Despite a spell of initial optimism in the 1960s and 1970s when it appeared that transistor circuits and microprocessors might be able to copy the action of the human brain by the year 20xx, researchers lately have begun to extend that forecast by decades if not centuries.

英語作文 篇4
People who live with disabilities are always considered shameful, for it was difficult for them to manage to do the daily affairs that we take for granted. In fact, they have no differences from us expect their disabilities which are formed because of inborn deficiency or unfortunate accidents. Luckily, now we find that there is much we can do to help them, such as improving the living conditions of them.
But one day when I got to a high-grade hotel, I realized that there was still much left for us to do to provide the equal access to the disabled. As soon as I got through the door of the hotel, I found it almost impossible for the lame or the blind to enter. The glass door would keep revolving unless someone stopped it. People in wheelchairs were hardly able to stop the door and it seemed that the width of the door was not as wide as that of the wheelchair. On the other hand, the revolving door was likely to hit the arms or heads of the blind when they tried to get through. The service counter was too high for the people in wheelchairs to reach. If they wanted to seek counsel of checking in or get publicity materials, they could hardly be served as normal people. The counter as well as the phones was in so high a position that it couldn’t be reached by people in wheelchairs. Except these, the stairs were one of the inconvenient facilities for the disabled. There were no elevators or even plain passages for the lame, so that they were unable to get to another floor unless others offered help.
Every member of society has the right to a reasonable quality of life, including the disabled. As society develops, we have the responsibility to offer equal access. Only in this way are the disabled able to live productive and meaningful lives as we do.
英語作文 篇5
Nowadays, an increasing numbers of parents ask college students to act as private tutors to their kids. Like everything else, private tutoring also has advantages and disadvantages. Generally speaking, the advantages can be listed as follows.
First, private tutoring is helpful to the parents. Many parents are so busy with their work that they have no time to help their children with their lessons. Besides, private tutoring is good for the tutors themselves. They can make some money while providing a service for others. Most important of all, privatetutoringis beneficial for kids. Since the parents can't help when the kids have problems, private tutoring seems to be a wise choice.
However, private tutoring also has disadvantages. To begin with, it takes so much of the kid's time that they can hardly find time for rest and amusement, which is harmful to their health. To make matters worse, some tutors have too many kids to teach so that they neglect their studies at school. Worst of ail, some tutors only offer tips for test taking rather than teaching kids what is really needed.
According to the above analysis, it is clear that the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. Therefore, it is proposed that great emphasis be laid on the stimulation of the kid' s learning and the cultivation of their potential Moreover, kids should be given more time to play so that a new and healthy generation will emerge.
