As a result，the Huangtu plateau which was once covered with grass and forests was turned into barrens that supported fewer plants. Another example was in several developed countries. Because many chemical factories discharged poisonous gas without filtering it, cities were covered with so much poisonous gas that people were killed by the air they breathed in. What horrible scene! What we are suffering is only a small part of what the nature once suffered. If we don’t take action to show respect to the environment, we will have to face an increasingly awful situation. Measures should be taken to protect the environment on which we are relying.
First governments should forbid destroying vegetation, rivers and lakes, oceans, as and the atmosphere as well. Second voices should be made to announce the public of the importance of protecting the environment. Third enterprises should pay special attention to the effect they have on the environment and work out solutions for the problems. Only by changing the way we treat the environment can we get along well with it. Only by saving the environment can we save ourselves.

The first thing we can do is to use cloth bags in stead of plastic bags when we go shopping. It helps to protect the environment. The second thing we can do is to reuse the old textbooks as possible as we can. We should also never forget to turn off the lights when we leave the classrooms in order to save energy. What's more, it would be better if we walk or ride a bike to school. We should try our best reduce pollution and waste.
In fact,even the simplest everyday activities can make a real difference to the environment. I believe we can make the world a better place to live in.

鏡湖在蕪湖市可是個家喻戶曉的地方，外地人來蕪湖必看的一景�，F(xiàn)在的鏡湖風(fēng)景優(yōu)美，是市民休閑的好去處�？赡阒酪郧暗溺R湖是什么樣子嗎？聽我給你講講吧。
在上世紀(jì)90年代中后期，鏡湖的水體呈高富營養(yǎng)化狀態(tài)，水質(zhì)嚴(yán)重惡化，水變成了黃色。惡化的原因主要有：蕪湖市某醫(yī)院通過地下水道將大量未經(jīng)處理的污物、污水直接排進(jìn)了鏡湖；部分素質(zhì)不高的市民往鏡湖里倒垃圾；最可氣的`是鏡湖風(fēng)景區(qū)的某些工作人員竟然在鏡湖里洗拖把！慢慢地，鏡湖水變成了黃色，湖面上漂浮著許多垃圾，還散發(fā)著一股臭味。來到鏡湖邊的人們都捂著鼻子跑開了，嘴里還不停地說：“真臭！臭死了！”
一九九九年DDD二０００年，蕪湖市人民政府號召全市人民清理鏡湖。首先，工作人員用機(jī)器將湖水抽干，再由黨員帶頭和市民們一起挖掉淤泥，最后注入清澈的水。我外公是黨員，他有著親身體驗，外公說，那次勞動很累，但改善了鏡湖的水質(zhì)，大伙兒都感到很高興。
現(xiàn)在人們的環(huán)保意識增強(qiáng)了，再也沒有人往鏡湖里扔垃圾、排污水了。當(dāng)你來到鏡湖時，你會看到一片清澈的湖水，水底游來游去的小魚，湖水旁婀娜的垂柳和剛長出來的青青的小草。
有了90年代的教訓(xùn)，我們一定要做個講文明的好孩子，要保護(hù)鏡湖水質(zhì)，保持生態(tài)平衡。
